CNU Cascadia

Welcome to CNU Cascadia

Where urbanism and nature work together

Love cities?

Walking, biking, and transit?

Interested in housing and affordability?

Concerned with sustainability?

We are too.

CNU-Cascadia is a non-profit organization dedicated to the design of towns and cities that enable all community members to flourish.

There is no place quite like the greater Pacific Northwest.  The breathtaking assemblage of water bodies, mountains, flora and fauna make this a truly special place to live and work. The Cascadia Chapter of the CNU promotes vibrant, healthy neighborhoods and localities that conserve resources and provide access to greenspace—observing that a nuanced integration of built and natural environments benefit both the people in those communities and the cherished environment that we all share.

We seek connectivity and accessibility—including walkability, housing options, and flexible transit choices—that support the well-being of locals and the resiliency of the locality.

We are, first and foremost, citizens who care. We are enthusiasts, business and community leaders, professionals, and place makers. We gather together, we share, and we advance places that love people (so that we can love them right back).

Our Mission

CNU Cascadia advocates for walkable, human-centered places in the Pacific Northwest, advances the national practice of New Urbanism through the bi-directional sharing of techniques and successes, and gathers advocates and practitioners to protect the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest through responsible growth and city-building practices. We seek a future where city, countryside, and nature function as an inter-connected system, supporting the long-term success of the Pacific Northwest region.
